Corrections, Additions and Recently Located
To all of you who sent such kind words about the reunion.....thanks from all of us on the committee. I personally have not given up on locating the classmates who remain "lost". If anyone can help out, I would really like to locate everyone.
These pages contains all of the updates sent in by classmates. If you would like any updates added to the website, just send them in. New photos would be great. I went over all the photos taken at the reunion and tried to include as many as possible, without prejudice. Hopefully, they have captured the essence of the reunion so that those of you who were unable to make it could experience, in some small measure, what turned out to be a truly memorable occasion. For those of you who did attend, this reunion book will hold us over 'til 09?
For purposes of convenience I use classmates "Yearbook Names" often just the last name. Here are the updates, etc. as they came in:
D. Dameo: Bio: This year Dan quietly celebrated his 50th year of flying! Bi-Planes, War Birds, Most Modern Aircraft, & corporate Jets. He has even flown the military F-16 Fighter Jet. He has been pilot in command for celebrities & corporate execs, politicians & plain folk as his passengers. Ha has performed "dog fights" and "missing man formations" in the sky. AS an air show performer, he has excited thousands of spectators, given autographs, posed for pictures, talked to old veterans and young cadets. He can fly almost any aircraft in the country-and do it well. His knowledge of WWII aircraft is staggering. He is an Ace Evaluator for the FAA to certify new and current aerobatic pilots. His is still flying all warbirds, and his own Bonanza and T-6 Trainer-lobbing 400 hous a year. Therefore he has truly mastered the art of flying.

The reunion was great! Thanks for all your hard work to make it the success it was. It has been brought to my attention that you have the wrong e-mail address for me. It is maryjake03@aol.com. There has been a mini-reunion since the big blast in New Jersey. Jocelyn Wilkens had a luncheon for the Washington area group. Susan Bartleson, Jane Swanson, and yours truly found our way to Jocelyn's house for a wonderful lunch. Unfortunately Nancy Freud couldn't make it. A lot of stories and laughs were had by all. See you in five years! Mary (Greensides) Jacobsen

Eisenberg: What a wonderful reunion weekend! The adjectives that come to mind are "gentle" and "loving." We all were truly so glad to see one another. Special personal thanks to Judy Moore Kass and Sam Smith for their amazing organization and dedication in constantly being on top of details, handling the money (Judy) and the communications (Sam), and keeping us "on task" and moving forward. And how grateful we are to Bob Newsteder. who spent endless hours collecting/extracting the class information from us, artfully putting it all together and printing this very special souvenir book and supplement, as well as our name tags (Save them for next reunion, he says!) Much appreciation to Bob and Terry Mulcahy, the generous hosts of the committee meetings and the memorable kick-off party Friday night for the entire excited crowd of us, and to Dan Block for supplying those unique class roster mugs. Of course, everyone in the planning group made their special contribution, as did all of you members of the Class of '54 who attended. What a great class! Yea for all us!

Went to Hiram College in Ohio and the Laboratory Institute of Merchandising in NYC. Have been married to Seth Slaughter for 47 years, having met him at Hiram. I've been a stay at home Mom.Have 3 sons, all married to the original wives, and have 8 grandchildren, 4 boys and 4 girls. The oldest two (18), graduated from HS this year, 50 years after I did, and are now in college. The youngest is 10.
Due to the nature of Seth's jobs with IBM, we have had the opportunity to travel to Europe, Japan, and Australia/New Zealand, and live in NY State twice, CT twice, CA twice and finally Tucson, AZ for the last 27 years. Seth retired from IBM and has been working as a supplemental transitioning employees into IBM involving other company outsourcing and acquisitions to IBM. This has enable us to travel in our motor home coast to coast. "Have motorhome, will travel".
For those of you who would remember my father--we moved them to Green Valley, Arizona in the early 80's after 43 years in Short Hills. He died in 1992 at the age of 91. After a few falls, and broken bones, my mother has lived with us since 1996. She will be 99 in Jan 2005. Like many of you, we have enjoyed traveling. We have done several cruises, Alaska, Panama Canal, Mediterranean, Greek Isles, Hawaii, and Caribbean. Also paddlewheeling on the Mississippi River including both St. Paul and Pittsburgh to New Orleans. True Americana. At home, we play with model trains, LGB and N gauge. Also finishing a doll house we stated 20 years ago, but was interrupted by moves. Trying to pickup where we left off. Needless to say we have kept busy including our little Pomeranians.

Marquis: In behalf of Janice & myself, we wan't to thank you for your considerable and enduring effort to stage MHS54. For Janice, who had met none of you before, it was both revealing and most enjoyable, and certainly no less for me. It's truly very touching to come back to your roots, particularly when one is as far -and as long- removed as me. Please pass these sentiments to all the members of the committee. My only real regret was that in my hasty retreat at bed time closed in on Sat. evening that I forgot my chocolate bar; oh, well, there's always the 55th! Right. Best wishes to you, TonySwanson If there is a way, both my address and email were listed incorrectly in the wonderful Reunion book, though until October I had been receiving both.

I am interested in the kindergarten photo of the Short Hills School. Do you know how I coud get a copy? There are a bunch of us that have known each other since kindergarten. Thanks, Jocelyn
From Collisson: A CRONE'S POST MENOPAUSAL VIEW
I did not know when I was young I was creating my mind's vast memories - making gold nuggets and treasures that inspire the nows through my adult children's and grandchildren's lives. I remember with fondness Mr. Dalnodar, 5th grade, the art projects, posters, plays, strawberry festivals, where dry ice would be thrown down our backs by the (Glenwood) boys. Mrs. Birmingham from 6th grade, how she loved teaching. Her hair was gray and neatly braided into a bun.
My knees were too knobby, feet and hands too big, as I entered 7th grade at Millburn Jr. HS. I ogled the seniors, especially Dick Forbes, who served mashed potatoes in the cafeteria (a real man at 17) - WOW. "Puke" and "Barf" were cuss words and "getting high' was 2 aspirin in a Coke-a-cola. "Hubba-hubba & vah-va-voom" were flirtatious comments that were an indication of transformation. B.W. rated tops, my first love experience for several years. Going steady was so special. We were young and teenage dreamers, but I remember that time well, not to be forgotten.
Roller skating, hayrides, ice-skating, skinny dipping at North Pond, marshmallow roasts and hot cocoa shared on the pond's banks in the winter ... all vividly remembered. I would come home from school dances with wet hair adorned with reeds & weeds hanging from my ears, dress muddy and wrinkled, barefoot, with shoes in hand that never did stay on my feet once I left the house.
Dad would stand by the inside front door, in his bathrobe and slippers, flashing the porch light on and off to signal curfew was up and get in here NOW. I had already turned into a pumpkin, no longer a princess, so it was time.
Slumber parties that the boys would deliberately crash as we curled our hair in socks, rags, soup-can size curlers, or pins. After boys left, we would giggle and food-fest our way through the nigh - until the sun came up - only to end up in the AM after breakfast, taking a long bike ride to Echo Lake, where we would row boats to prove we still had energy to spare without sleep -- then to bike home and collapse for 12 - 24 hours (oh, for some of that energy now).
One of these parties at my house, the boys came and 4 or 5 of the basketball team sat on my parents' antique Spanish couch, which cracked and caved in. My allowance was docked for awhile over that one. Now I've been the parent 5 times over -- married for nearly 45 years -- minus a couple of years between men. Divorced, widowed, and now married to a delightfully seasoned vet -- a true opportunity for intimacy as our lives are shared, if we can continue to remember each other's names. Cheerleading four years, with pep rallies, bonfires, marching band at MHS was spirited and joy filled. Much laryngitis from yelling so vigorously at football and basketball games. (Ben Gay was on the market then also.) Now getting up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom is a bit of an ordeal -- Oh well!
Our junior play, "Heaven Can Wait", with Jim Wilson starring, was a delight. A great recalling experience of being a town person in the classic "Our Town" - still a nostalgic tearjerker.
Art Club would decorate all the store windows for Halloween and fall, and we got off school for a day to paint our hearts out all over town. Mr. Sheppard was an inspiration for me and gave me great encouragement. It was and is my bliss. I knew then I was in my element and have not deterred from living creatively since. Still enjoying teaching and love sharing that experience of doing.
Chorus led by Mr. Chiodo was totally uplifting and added to the aesthetic quality of school spirit, even if to this day I don't know if I'm 2nd soprano or 1st alto. I can't get out of my head the time Lynn E. and I rehearsed for a talent show for two months. I played piano and she sang "Bushel & A Peck". My mom went nuts listening to us practice. I'd better be careful or I won't be able to let it go today. MHS was my launch pad, and to return 50 years later with some of the same people after living many years, days and hours shedding skin and peeling back that onion to the core, Millburn HS will live forever in my memory as my roots for this lifetime.
